President Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” has officially passed in the Senate after a tight 51–50 vote in favor of it.
Vice President J.D. Vance served as the tie-breaking vote after GOP Senators Rand Paul (Ky.), Thom Tillis (N.C.), and Susan Collins (Maine) voted against it.
Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski ended up voting for the legislation after a long night of negotiations.
Several last-minute changes to the bill passed, among them:
• An amendment that increases funding to support rural health care access ($50 billion)
• A 99–1 vote in favor of removing the 10-year moratorium on state regulation of AI
The bill will now move on to the House.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson released a joint statement along with Steve Scalise, Tom Emmer, and Lisa McClain, posting it to X:
In an interview with Fox News, White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller commented on the bill, saying:
“This is the most conservative bill in my lifetime — tax cuts, defense, border security, homeland security, welfare reform, and the largest spending cut in one bill that has ever been enacted.”
