White House announces construction of new “State Ballroom”
News | By Easton Martin | July 31, 2025
On July 31, 2025, the Trump administration announced the construction of a new “White House State Ballroom,” a $200 million, privately funded venue to be built on the site of the existing East Wing. It will span 90,000 square feet and accommodate 650 seated guests, compared to the current 200-seat capacity of the East Room.
Developed by McCrery Architects, with Clark Construction overseeing construction and AECOM managing engineering, the project is scheduled to begin in September 2025 and be completed before the end of President Trump’s term.
The new structure will be substantially separated from the main building but will maintain architectural continuity, featuring classical columns, gold chandeliers, arched windows, and other luxury design elements.
Construction will displace existing offices in the East Wing, including the First Lady’s offices, which will be temporarily relocated. Funding will come from President Trump and private donors.
