The mainstream media meltdown continues
Op-ed | By Easton Martin | August 19, 2025
Many left leaning news outlets have responded with near universal alarm to President Trump’s latest diplomatic overtures, revealing a consistently negative posture toward any of his foreign policy initiatives.
Hosts and commentators have derided his summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska, portraying the red carpet reception as embarrassing and superficial, crying foul over the optics more than noting any nuance.
Their coverage brims with skeptical commentary, framing every move as a sign of weakness that supposedly undercuts American credibility. Let’s be honest for a moment though, whose credibility is really being undercut here?
On MSNBC, anchors swiftly labeled Trump’s outreach as delusional, casting doubt on his motives and warning of hidden agendas. The overall tone remains relentlessly critical, with little effort made toward balanced analysis.
These networks routinely amplify every critique, pushing a narrative of incompetence, unpredictability, and partisan posturing with virtually no acknowledgment of any potential upside or strategic complexity in Trump’s actions. It is as if no matter what President Trump does, he is always the bad guy in their eyes.
By focusing on insinuations of impropriety and failures of diplomacy while overlooking any positive dimensions, these left leaning media voices are reinforcing tribal divisions. Their coverage reads less like serious reporting and more like editorializing, ensuring that any chance for objective engagement is overwhelmed by ideological dismissal.
