By Easton Martin
In miraculous fashion, it appears that one man on Flight AI 171 has survived the plane’s crash landing. Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British national, was found in seat 11A, according to Commissioner G.S. Malik, who had earlier reported that there were no survivors.
Principal Secretary of the Gujarat State Health Department, Dhananjay Dwivedi, has also stated that one survivor has been confirmed.
The Hindustan Times quoted Ramesh as saying, “Thirty seconds after takeoff, there was a loud noise and then the plane crashed. It all happened so quickly.”
A video posted on X by TRT World apparently shows Ramesh walking after the crash:
President Trump, speaking at a press briefing, called it a “horrific crash” and offered American assistance if needed.
At this time, no other survivors are believed to have been found, according to authorities.
The Air India crash is expected to go down as one of the deadliest air disasters in modern history, with a death toll approaching 300.
