President Trump set to visit “Alligator Alcatraz”

President Trump is on his way to Florida this morning to visit the controversial “Alligator Alcatraz” immigrant detention center for its grand opening.
The newly constructed facility sits on the grounds of the Dade-Collier Training and Transition Airport in the Florida Everglades.
The approximately 11,000-foot runway is expected to allow for speedy deportations and enhanced processing of illegal immigrants.
Leaders have highlighted the security advantages of the remote location, which has only one road in and out and is surrounded by miles of swamp inhabited by a variety of deadly creatures.
President Trump reposted a clip from Fox News on Truth Social, saying of the detention center, “I think it’s gonna be great,” as he prepared to depart for Florida.

Critics of the facility have raised environmental concerns, with some suggesting that an environmental impact study should be conducted before operations begin.
Demonstrators have lined Highway 41 outside the facility over the past week in protest of the opening. However, they have refrained from blocking the road due to Florida laws discouraging roadway obstruction during protests.
The President is scheduled to attend a roundtable discussion at the facility at 11:05 a.m. EDT.
