ARRESTED OVER A MEME. NOW HE’S FIGHTING BACK.

Doug Mackey became the face of government weaponization after being prosecuted over a satirical Hillary Clinton meme that jokingly suggested supporters could “text” their vote.

A Brooklyn jury convicted him. A federal judge sentenced him to prison.

Then the Second Circuit Court of Appeals stepped in and threw the case out entirely.

Now Mackey says he’s seeking damages from @TheJusticeDept after what he calls years of political persecution.

“They tried to throw me in prison for a joke.”

The question remains: If a meme can get you arrested, what does that say about free speech in America?
