Bondi orders grand jury investigation into Russia-gate as Dems deny findings

Attorney General Pam Bondi has ordered federal prosecutors to initiate a grand jury investigation into allegations that officials in the Obama administration improperly handled intelligence related to Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election.
The probe follows a criminal referral from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who in July released newly declassified reports concluding that Russian operations were limited in scope, had no measurable impact on vote tallies or outcomes, and were mischaracterized in prior public assessments.
Under Bondi’s directive, an appointed prosecutor will present evidence to a federal grand jury, which will have authority to issue subpoenas and hear testimony. The move raises the possibility of indictments if the Department of Justice determines charges are warranted.
The investigation has not publicly identified specific former officials under review. Supporters of the decision argue it is necessary to hold past leaders accountable for misrepresenting intelligence.
Critics contend it could further politicize the Justice Department. Members of the mainstream media have repeatedly down-played Gabbard’s findings, claiming them to be “preposterous”.
