What’s with all the Candace Owens drama?
By Easton Martin | December 11, 2025
A bitter dispute has erupted within parts of the conservative movement over the last couple weeks involving Candace Owens, Turning Point USA, and the organization’s new CEO, Erika Kirk, widow of Charlie Kirk.
Owens, who previously worked closely with TPUSA, has increased her criticism of the group following Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September 2025. She has questioned aspects of the official account surrounding his death and has circulated claims involving security concerns and foreign surveillance activity. She has also argued that TPUSA’s decision to immediately elevate Erika Kirk to CEO was unwise and created instability within the organization.
Erika Kirk has responded forcefully in televised appearances and interviews. She has rejected Owens’ allegations as harmful conspiracy theories, characterizing them as a “mind virus” that has spread online and caused distress to staff and supporters still grappling with her husband’s death.
The feud has drawn broader attention from conservative commentators. Laura Loomer has publicly defended Erika Kirk and accused Owens of harboring personal resentment.
Responses have been split, however, as some in the broader conservative movement have questioned the official narrative regarding Kirk’s death.
Despite all the theories which Owens has publicly pushed, little has been put forward in the way of hard or conclusive evidence.
