‘Demoralization Operations’: President Trump addresses swirling political polls
President Donald Trump on Monday took a swing at political polling as the midterm elections loom on the horizon.

President Donald Trump is taking a swing at current political polling in the news cycle this week, as the nation gears up to head to the ballot box this fall in the anticipated 2026 midterm elections.
“The Radical Left Democrats are going CRAZY with Fake Polls,” the president said in a statement. “They’re putting them out at levels never seen before. They’re called, ‘Demoralization Operations,’ where they try to demoralize Republicans so that they don’t go out and vote — But the actual Polls are tremendous, and the Spirit in our Country has never been higher.”
It’s unclear what polls the president was referring to specifically, but it likely was a jab at the broad aggregation of political polling online right now, which has been turbulent since the launch of the U.S. war against Iran.
According to RealClear Polling, for example, it currently projects a 48.2 percent advantage for Democrats on the 2026 generic congressional vote, with Republicans at 41.8 percent. According to their data, President Trump also holds a 56 percent disapproval rating this week.
Their data polls the overall averages between most major polls in the media, like Morning Consult, Reuters/Ipsos, and Economist/YouGov.
Data from Gallup found that just 40 percent of Americans approve of President Trump’s “overall job performance.”
President Trump’s statement on Monday was presumably a slam against the data in these current polls. “We’re winning against EVERYONE, including Iran, whose Country is in Economic and Military Death Spiral,” the president argued.
The 2026 midterms, despite polling, will be a highly competitive race. It’s too soon to tell which direction these races may trend, but it will remain integral for Republicans to maintain the majority in Congress, if only to stop President Trump from being stymied by potential Democrat-fueled impeachment attempts.
“They’re going to do it,” President Trump said last week at a rally in South Carolina, addressing Democrat plans to do exactly that.
He warned, “They’re going to impeach…you’re going to lose everything, I’m going to have to go through impeachment – these are lunatics; these are people that are vicious, violent – they weaponize the justice system, the Justice Department. And they want to destroy our country…they want our country to fail, and we can’t let that happen; you have to get out and VOTE in the midterms!”
