New clip of missing minute in Epstein footage released

A one minute gap in surveillance footage from outside Jeffrey Epstein’s jail cell, previously described by Attorney General Pam Bondi as routine and erased nightly, has now been recovered and publicly released. The newly disclosed clip, captured between 11:59 p.m. and midnight on August 9, 2019, was included in a large set of documents and videos unveiled by the House Oversight Committee.
Bondi had stated earlier that the missing minute was due to system resets that wiped footage each night. The newly released video contradicts that explanation, showing a prison guard walking toward Epstein’s cell during the exact time the footage was thought to be lost.
The materials, which include surveillance recordings and more than 33,000 pages of records, were released as part of a wider congressional investigation into Epstein’s death at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. Epstein was found dead in his cell in what was officially ruled a suicide, though questions surrounding the circumstances have fueled years of public scrutiny.
The reappearance of the missing minute raises new questions about the accuracy of earlier claims, the handling of evidence, and the overall transparency of the original investigation. Lawmakers are expected to press for further clarification in the coming weeks as attention shifts back to how Epstein’s case was managed inside the federal system.
