Erika Kirk, the widowed wife of the late Charlie Kirk, announced on Sunday that she would meet privately with podcast host and commentator Candace Owens amid escalating tensions and online accusations that the latter has made about Turning Point USA and beyond.
Mrs. Kirk wrote on X, “Candace Owens and I are meeting for a private, in-person discussion on Monday, December 15. @RealCandaceO and I have agreed that public discussions, livestreams, and tweets are on hold until after this meeting. I look forward to a productive conversation. Thank you.”
Owens confirmed the meeting on social media, as well, writing, “I am very much looking forward to this discussion.”
This comes after Erika Kirk pushed back against online conspiracy theories surrounding Charlie Kirk’s September assassination, specifically responding to Owens’ speculation during a town hall with Bari Weiss on CBS.
“Stop,” she said when asked what her response was to Owens. “That’s it. That’s all I have to say. Stop.”
While making the rounds on Fox News last week to promote her late husband’s final and posthumous book, Stop in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life, she also addressed the claims online.
“When you go after my family, my Turning Point USA family, my Charlie Kirk Show family, when you go after the people that I love, and you’re making hundreds and thousands of dollars every single episode, going after the people that I love because somehow they’re in on this? No,” she remarked last week. “…This is righteous anger, this is not okay, it’s not healthy. This is a mind virus.”
Owens, who was once a personal friend of Charlie Kirk and appeared at many Turning Point USA events over the years, has fueled rampant speculation about the events surrounding the late Kirk’s assassination three months ago.
This meeting between Owens and Mrs. Kirk signals, perhaps, what may be a willingness to leave public speculation in the past, at least on the part of Owens.
