First Lady Melania Trump on Monday unveiled this year’s Christmas theme and decorations at the White House, challenging Americans to celebrate love and inspiration this holiday season.
The theme, “Home Is Where the Heart Is,” celebrates America’s Christmas season by highlighting the character of the people who built this nation.
“The constant movement has taught me that home is not merely a physical space; rather, it is the warmth and comfort I carry within, regardless of my surroundings,” the First Lady said in a statement.
She continued, “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves, and share it with the world around us. After all, wherever we are, we can create a home filled with grace, radiance, and endless possibilities.”
According to the Office of the First Lady, this year’s Red Room features a “Fostering the Future” theme, highlighting her work championing the well-being of children. Mrs. Trump collaborated with designer Hervé Pierre to bring her vision to life, which features a cadre of blue butterflies paying homage to the foster community that is so dear to the First Lady’s heart.
Per her office, other notable inclusions in the White House decorations include:
- A tribute to America’s Gold Star families, visible in the Blue Room, in the ornaments adorning the official White House Christmas tree – one for each state and territory,
- A collection of red, white, and blue exhibits showcasing America’s upcoming 250th birthday celebration,
- Mrs. Trump’s 75 “signature wreaths” festooned with red ribbons on the windows, along with more than 50 Christmas trees and 10,000 butterflies,
- A 120-pound gingerbread house in the State Dining Room.
“As Americans explore the historic rooms of the White House this holiday season, the 2025 Christmas decorations serve as a reminder that the strength of our Nation is found in its people—in our shared values, valued traditions, and the steadfast belief that home is where the heart is,” the First Lady’s office stated.
