Kamala Harris calls Democrat leaders “reckless” for handling of Joe Biden

Kamala Harris’s upcoming memoir, 107 Days, is already stirring controversy for its blunt assessment of the Democratic Party’s handling of the 2024 election. In the book, Harris accuses party leaders of “recklessness” for allowing Joe Biden and his wife Jill to make the decision on his reelection campaign without serious challenge.
Harris describes the constant refrain, “It’s Joe and Jill’s decision,” as irresponsible and damaging. She argues that the party allowed Biden’s ambition and ego to outweigh the obvious concerns about his age and stamina. From her perspective, Democrats ignored the warning signs and put the entire party at risk by failing to act.
What makes this admission striking is that it comes not from Republicans, but from Biden’s own vice president. Harris acknowledges that Biden showed fatigue rather than outright incapacity, but her account makes clear that serious doubts were circulating inside the administration long before his campaign collapsed.
She also directs criticism at Biden’s communications team, accusing them of undermining her credibility and refusing to defend her against attacks in the press. According to Harris, aides believed boosting her would diminish the president.
For conservatives, Harris’s memoir reads less like an inside look at a failed campaign and more like a confession of dysfunction. Democrats ignored reality, circled the wagons around an aging candidate, and then watched their strategy collapse. The very people who once demanded “fitness for office” now admit they kept quiet out of fear or loyalty, and Harris calls that silence “recklessness.”
107 Days will be released later this month. Its publication ensures that Democrats will face fresh scrutiny over how they handled the Biden question, not just from Republicans but from their own ranks.
