Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she would nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize if he brokers a peace deal between Russia and Ukraine without requiring Ukraine to give up any territory.
Speaking on the Raging Moderates podcast ahead of Trump’s planned summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, Clinton stressed that the conditions are strict. A ceasefire must be reached, Russia must fully withdraw from occupied areas, and Ukraine’s territorial integrity must remain intact.
“If President Trump were the architect of that, I’d nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize, because my goal here is to not allow capitulation to Putin,” Clinton said.
Her comments came as the Trump–Putin meeting drew global attention, particularly since Ukraine and allied leaders were excluded from the talks. The summit is expected to focus on efforts to end the war, but its closed-door nature has fueled speculation.
Clinton’s statement marks a rare instance of conditional bipartisan recognition, underscoring the significance of Ukraine’s sovereignty in any agreement.
