California representative Jared Huffman Loses his temper at LindellTV question

A brief exchange on Capitol Hill today drew attention after Rep. Jared Huffman of California rejected a straightforward policy question from LindellTV reporter Alison Steinberg and instead responded with personal remarks directed at the network.
Steinberg asked the congressman for his reaction to Bill Gates’ recent statement that climate change is no longer a crisis, a notable shift from Gates’ longtime advocacy for aggressive climate policy. Rather than offer a view on the substance of the question, Huffman immediately turned to derision.
Huffman replied to Steinberg’s question with, “Are you selling pillows today,” followed by comments describing LindellTV as “a joke of a media outlet” and calling the reporter “a fraud.” He did not address Gates’ comments, climate policy, or any related topic.
The interaction mirrors a broader tension between members of Congress and reporters who are not part of major legacy outlets. Just a few weeks ago, Steinberg’s question to Nancy Pelosi regarding January 6 prompted the congresswoman to lash out at the reporter, yelling in her face and telling her to “shut up”.
Huffman’s comments ultimately offered no clarification on whether Gates’ shift affects the arguments lawmakers have used to push climate legislation or how Democrats interpret the billionaire’s updated position. Instead, the exchange ended with only the congressman’s insults on the record.
Huffman, a Democrat representing California’s district 2, is known as a staunch supporter of abortion, and has recently voted to keep the government closed as thousands of federal workers went without pay.
