A shooting at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office in Dallas early Wednesday left 1 detainee dead and 2 injured.
Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons said three people were shot inside the facility, though he did not immediately say whether victims were employees, visitors, or detainees. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed the shooter died by suicide.
Authorities later located the suspect’s body on the roof of a nearby building with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Dozens of emergency vehicles responded to the scene on North Stemmons Freeway near the ICE facility.
At this time, officials say the motive remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
