The current status of Senator John Fetterman
By Easton Martin | November 13, 2025
U.S. Senator John Fetterman was hospitalized Thursday after a fall near his home during an early-morning walk. His office said he experienced a brief episode of light-headedness caused by a ventricular fibrillation event, which led to the fall.
Medical staff reported that Fetterman sustained minor facial injuries and is being kept under observation while doctors adjust his medications. His office said he is doing well, and in a lighthearted statement, Fetterman said, “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now.”
Fetterman previously suffered a serious stroke during his 2022 campaign. Ventricular fibrillation is a serious heart rhythm problem that can prevent the heart from pumping blood effectively and requires careful monitoring.
The incident comes while Fetterman has been active in Senate negotiations on federal funding and other legislative matters. His office has not provided a timeline for his recovery, and it is unclear how the hospitalization will affect his schedule or participation in upcoming votes.
Senator Fetterman’s team has asked for privacy while he continues to recover and said updates will be shared as his condition evolves.
