Kevin James understands what few in Hollywood do

Actor and comedian Kevin James is making headlines for a stance that remains increasingly rare in the modern entertainment industry. During the premiere of his new film titled Solo Mio, the sixty year old actor addressed his decision to remain publicly neutral on political matters.
Many of his peers utilize their platforms to advocate for specific candidates or social causes, a position that many are simply growing weary of. James on the other hand argues that his primary responsibility is to provide an escape for his audience.
James told Variety that he prefers to leave political discourse to those who possess more expertise in the field than he does. He explained that his focus remains on delivering quality content that offers a break from the pervasive stress of daily life. According to James, people need a way to find the good in things to function properly. He expressed a desire to help people have fun and maintain hope through his work rather than adding to the noise of the political landscape.
Kevin James understands a growing truth that many in Hollywood cannot seem to grasp: people do not want actors to try to be political activists. Hollywood is full of people “boldly” standing for their truth in politics or in social matters, but who told them that the American public generally cares? If anything, the public enjoys on some level mocking the outrageously self-righteous and flatly ridiculous statements that celebrities tend to make, such as Billie Eilish’s “no one is illegal on stolen land” platitude at the Grammys.
