Nobel Peace Prize winner dedicates her award to President Trump
The Nobel Prize Committee inexplicably overlooked President Donald Trump this year, but the winner made a bold statement by dedicating her award to the president as he tirelessly pursues peace

On Friday, the Nobel Committee awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2025 to Maria Corina Machado, in a move that many have seen as a political one – but to her credit, the prize winner dedicated her award to President Donald Trump.
President Donald Trump was seen as the potential frontrunner for the prize this year, due to his complex work ending multiple wars overseas during his first few months in office this year – and especially as Israel and Hamas have come to an agreement on the first phase of a peace plan to bring an end to the conflict in Gaza.
Machado, whom the Nobel Committee described as a “leader of the democracy movement in Venezuela,” released a statement on X after receiving the award:
“We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy. I dedicate this prize to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”
It seems surprising that the Nobel Committee continues to refuse to consider President Trump as a contender for the peace prize, especially considering the fact that former President Barack Obama received one after holding office for less than eight months in 2009.
The committee at that time claimed that Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize for being a “strong spokesman for human rights and democracy” and for being a supporter of combating the “climate crisis.”
The committee’s decision in 2025 comes as a bit of a political snub, amid President Trump’s unprecedented work to restore peace in the Middle East and between Ukraine and Russia.
Even Russian President Vladimir Putin weighed in on Friday, calling the Nobel Peace Prize something that has “lost credibility.”
“The committee discussed the prize for people who have done nothing for the world,” he said. “…[Trump] solves complex problems, crises that last for decades.”
