As Los Angeles, California, is looted and burned by protestors rebelling against federal immigration enforcement, Trump White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt reminded Americans how important the president’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” is when it comes to securing long-term immigration security.
“The riots in Los Angeles prove that we desperately need more immigration enforcement personnel and resources,” she wrote on X.
She continued, “That’s why President Trump’s One Big, Beautiful Bill funds at least one million annual removals and hires 10,000 new ICE personnel, 5,000 new customs officers, and 3,000 new Border Patrol agents.”
Over the weekend, President Donald Trump signed a presidential memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to Los Angeles as protestors turned violent, looting shops, burning vehicles, and damming up urban traffic patterns.
“Order will be restored, the Illegals will be expelled, and Los Angeles will be set free. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” the president wrote on Truth Social.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” has been heavily championed by President Trump as a platform for fulfilling many of his campaign promises, including major tax cuts. Another proponent of the bill is continued funding for much-needed border security operations.
“The bill ensures that President Trump’s popular and successful borders security measures are made permanent,” Leavitt said in May. “Republicans have the backs of Border Patrol and ICE agents who were put through hell over the past four years and have quickly worked to secure our southern border. And that’s why this bill gives them more resources to do their jobs.”
Thus far, the legislation has been supported by leaders from a slate of organizations nationwide, including the National Fraternal Order of Police, the National Restaurant Association, and the American Farm Bureau Federation, per the White House.
If passed, the bill will also provide $10,000 annual bonuses for hardworking Border Patrol and ICE agents.
“Stand with ICE,” White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Police Stephen Miller stated on X. “Pass the BBB.”
