Politicians are the world’s biggest gaslighters: the so-called ‘SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR’ of the left
On Thursday, several Democratic lawmakers participated in a video urging military servicemembers and members of the intelligence community to disobey unspecified orders from President Trump – drawing the president’s ire

This week, Democratic lawmakers participated in a video message that bluntly encouraged members of the U.S. military and those in the intelligence apparatus to disobey the orders of their Commander in Chief, drawing intense criticism from the president.
“It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL,” the president said on Thursday.
He continued, “Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand – We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET.”
Democrats who participated in the video included lawmakers like Sens. Elissa Slotkin (Mi.), Mark Kelly (Ariz.), and Rep. Jason Crow (Colo.). In it, they repeatedly told military men and women, and members of the U.S. National Security apparatus, that they did not have to obey “illegal orders” from the President of the United States.
They did not specify what orders they were referring to at any time during this video. They strongly winked at encouraging military and intelligence disobedience.
President Trump described them as “TRAITORS” on Thursday and even noted that conviction of seditious behavior was “punishable by DEATH!”
His response to Democrats’ dangerous rhetoric drew a remarkably confusing response from the lawmakers who defied the chain of command and revealed them for what they are: professional gaslighters.
A strategy of deception
Democrats’ move to suggest that President Trump’s orders are unlawful or unconstitutional is quite an accusation to make without any evidence. These lawmakers have not specified what they’re talking about, and as such, have left their encouragement to be disobedient open to wide interpretation.
This makes their video statements more dangerous than ever, and they know it.
And even more frustratingly, in response to President Trump’s strong criticism of their downright chilling behavior, they have turned around and accused the president of threatening their lives. Consider this joint statement from the Democrats involved:
“What’s most telling is that the President considers it punishable by death for us to restate the law. Our servicemembers should know that we have their backs as they fulfill their oath to the Constitution and obligation to follow only lawful orders. It is not only the right thing to do, but also our duty.”
Again, they fail to specify how President Trump is failing to dispense lawful orders. Instead, they pretend that they did not begin the exchange with a thinly-veiled wink at inciting alleged military insubordination.
“The sanctity of our military rests on the chain of command, and if that chain of command is broken, it can lead to people getting killed, it can lead to chaos,” said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday.
She continued, “We have 1.3 [million] active duty servicemembers in this country, and if they hear this radical message from sitting members of congress, that could inspire chaos, and it could incite violence, and it certainly could disrupt the chain of command.”
Leavitt described the messaging from those Democrats involved as “very, very dangerous.”
“It is, perhaps, punishable by law,” she said.
And while alleged seditious behavior is not punishable by death in modern America (the Sedition Act of 1798 was repealed long ago), it is still quite a serious crime, and allegations like it can be prosecuted in other ways, most likely in the vein of treason.
“In the old days, if you said a thing like that, that was punishable by death,” President Trump told Brian Kilmeade on Friday. “…I’m not threatening them, but I think they’re in serious trouble. In the old days, it was death, that was seditious behavior, that was a big deal…today’s a different world, it’s a softer, it’s a meeker, milder world.”
A meeker, milder world
“These are bad people – these are people that, in my opinion, broke the law. Now what happens to them? I can’t tell you…I can tell you, if I ever said that, and there was a Democrat as president, all hell would have broken loose,” the president told Kilmeade.
He’s right. There is a shocking double standard when it comes to how someone like President Trump can speak and how the unhinged left is allowed to speak.
With the left-wing media machine behind them, they seem almost invincible – untouchable, and arrogant in their ivory towers, spouting dangerous and violent rhetoric without ever having to face a just consequence or a fair response. The injustice is staggering.
President Trump is correct: it is indeed a meeker and milder world.
Whether these foolish Democrats who made such troublesome statements will face even a simple censure in Congress remains to be seen, but it seems unlikely.
At the very least, it’s a good reminder of how important it is to listen to the words of American politicians – on both sides of the aisle – when they speak. Because when they open their mouths, they tend to tell you exactly who they really are.
