President Trump is not happy with the Supreme Court after this latest mail-in ruling

The Supreme Court on Monday left an existing lower court injunction in place, temporarily blocking the United States Postal Service from enforcing new security regulations for mail-in voting ahead of the November midterm elections.

The Trump administration designed the rules to ensure election integrity and combat potential fraud. The policies required mail ballot envelopes to feature unique barcodes and directed state election officials to verify voter information through an online federal portal. Solicitor General D. John Sauer defended the regulations in court filings as a constitutional exercise of federal authority over the postal system, noting the rules simply impose reasonable preparation requirements for election-related mail.

In a brief unsigned order, the majority concluded the administration is unlikely to succeed on the merits of overturning the current preliminary injunction at this stage. Justice Brett Kavanaugh concurred with the decision to block the rules for the upcoming midterms due to the short timeframe. Kavanaugh noted the government held at least a fair prospect of success in defending its legal authority to implement the plan overall. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented.

President Donald Trump strongly condemned the ruling on social media Tuesday morning. He called the order a bad decision and a big loss for Republicans. Trump praised Alito and Thomas but expressed deep frustration with the remaining justices. He stated the court yielded to pressure from the political left and described the current bench as a shell of its original self.
