President Trump making visit to the Federal Reserve this afternoon

President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit the Federal Reserve headquarters this afternoon in a rare move that underscores growing tension between the White House and Fed Chair Jerome Powell.
The meeting, set for 4 p.m., will mark the first presidential appearance at the central bank in more than two decades.
Trump has openly criticized Powell in recent weeks, calling for sharp interest rate cuts and even questioning Powell’s leadership.
Although the president cannot legally remove the Fed chair without cause, his comments have increased pressure ahead of the central bank’s upcoming policy meeting on July 29.
The visit also comes amid controversy over a $2.5 billion renovation project at the Fed’s historic Washington buildings.
The White House has raised concerns about the cost and oversight of the project, while Fed officials defend it as a long-needed modernization effort.
Financial markets are watching closely but have remained relatively stable. Analysts warn that presidential involvement in central bank affairs could raise concerns about the Fed’s independence, a long-standing principle seen as vital to U.S. economic stability.
Trump’s visit is expected to intensify the political spotlight on the Fed heading into next week.
