
Texas flooding update: Search and rescue operations still underway as death toll rises

Search and rescue operations are still underway for approximately 170 people missing after devastating flooding swept through central Texas. Governor Greg Abbott confirmed during a Tuesday press conference that at least 110 people have died.
Of those still unaccounted for, 161 are from Kerr County, where Camp Mystic was especially hard-hit. The camp has reported 27 deaths among its campers and counselors.
Authorities stated that the last known rescue occurred on Friday. While no one has been found alive since then, officials and volunteers remain committed to the ongoing search. Emergency responders from across Texas have joined local teams in the effort.
Governor Abbott also announced that the storm and its aftermath will be a key topic in the upcoming legislative session. Lawmakers are expected to consider new measures aimed at preventing future disasters of this scale.
