The bizarre nature of the new information on Thomas Crooks

Newly disclosed federal documents reveal that an unidentified donor stepped forward to pay for the cremation of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the gunman who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The records, provided to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley as part of an ongoing congressional inquiry into the July 13, 2024 attack, include an FBI interview summary with the shooter’s father, Matthew Crooks. An explicit notation confirmed that an anonymous benefactor covered the costs of disposing of the gunman’s remains, an arrangement arranged through legal counsel representing the family.

The revelation compounds persistent concerns surrounding the federal handling of physical evidence following the security breach. Representative Clay Higgins previously documented that federal authorities permitted the release and subsequent cremation of the shooter’s body just ten days after the assassination attempt. That expedited release permanently foreclosed an independent forensic examination by congressional investigators.

Investigative files also show that Crooks concealed weapon modifications and high-capacity equipment from his parents in the months leading to the rally, ordering parts under the alias “Bob Dole.” Federal authorities have yet to identify the financial source behind the cremation or clarify why external funding materialized to assist the family of a would-be presidential assassin.
