Is the CIA up to their old tricks again? Testimony on Capitol Hill suggests that the agency moved to take control of sensitive historical records. James Erdman, a former staffer for Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, told the Senate Homeland Security Committee that the CIA reclaimed documents regarding the JFK assassination and the MKUltra mind control program.
These files were reportedly being processed for declassification by the Director’s Initiatives Group before the agency intervened. The agency allegedly took 40 boxes of these files while they were under the care of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
While some reports initially characterized the event as a raid, the DNI Press Secretary, Olivia Coleman, clarified that the CIA did not in fact raid the office and called those specific claims false.Representative Anna Paulina Luna issued a public ultimatum demanding the return of the documents within 24 hours.
Luna stated that if the files are not returned to the office of Tulsi Gabbard, she will make a motion to issue a subpoena. Luna later clarified that while the incident was not a raid and did not occur today, it did take place, and she was made aware of the situation through reporting.

The testimony from Erdman also included accusations regarding illegal surveillance. The whistleblower claimed the CIA monitored colleagues who were investigating the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic. He further alleged that a contractor was fired following a key meeting related to those inquiries. It seems then that the initial story was just sensationalized, and that there was no “raid” per se.
