Turning Point USA’s anticipated “All-American Halftime Show” on Sunday has turned out to be a big hit with viewers nationwide, providing an edifying alternative to the traditional Super Bowl halftime show featuring Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny.
TPUSA’s halftime livestream, featuring Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, and Lee Brice, drew roughly 35 million total viewers, amounting to 10 million concurrent live viewers and 25 million views on social media platforms, according to TPUSA Spokesman Andrew Kolvet.
The event appeared to be received positively by those who watched both Bad Bunny’s halftime performance and the TPUSA show. A mainstream social media poll from TMZ, accruing nearly 320,000 votes overnight, asked users who had the “better halftime show.”
66 percent of respondents said it was Kid Rock, while 33 percent said it was Bad Bunny.
“We are going to commit to doing this again next year, we’re going to do another halftime show for the country next year,” Mr. Kolvet told Fox News Sunday night. “…This was a massive success, and we were grateful to do it.”
TPUSA’s show was dedicated to the memory of its late founder, Charlie Kirk, as Jack Posobiec opened the livestream by paying homage to his friend. At one point, Kid Rock also acknowledged Kirk’s legacy at the close of one of his songs, as photos of Kirk, his wife, and his children appeared.
“Congratulations @TPUSA, I am in tears at that BEAUTIFUL half time show,” wrote journalist Megyn Kelly. “Everyone did a spectacular job – it was perfect. THANK YOU!”
Founder of The Federalist, Sean Davis, remarked, “TPUSA put that entire show together in just 2 months. Just wait until it has a full year to plan, and can start booking venues and talent years out. The woke halftime show just got nuked. Even from the grave, Charlie is owning the libs. You love to see it.”
Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk, who has taken the helm at the organization in the wake of her husband’s assassination, called the halftime show “incredible.”
“Charlie would’ve absolutely loved it,” she wrote on X. “Thank you to the millions that tuned in. I’m so proud of our entire team, staff, and the artists who believed in the vision and mission @KidRock @brantleygilbert @leebrice @GabbyBarrett_. It’s okay to love Jesus and your country. Ultimately, this is what it’s all about, making Heaven crowded. …I love you Charlie baby, this is all for you.”
Update: On Monday morning, Andrew Kolvet said during “War Room” that, based on all the livestreams and the current numbers that they are assessing, it’s possible that as many as 40-50 million people tuned in to watch the TPUSA halftime event.
