During an event marking the 90th anniversary of Social Security, President Donald Trump announced that his administration has removed approximately 275,000 illegal immigrants from receiving Social Security benefits.
Trump also said that the Social Security Administration had purged about 2.4 million outdated records, some of which listed individuals over 120 years old. According to the president, these actions are part of a broader effort to protect and preserve the program for eligible recipients.
He emphasized that ensuring only qualified individuals receive benefits is essential to maintaining the program’s stability. Trump credited the removals and record updates as significant steps toward strengthening Social Security and preventing misuse.
The president did not provide additional details on the process used to identify ineligible recipients but described the effort as a “major cleanup” that will benefit American citizens who rely on the program.
