Trump Sends “Naval Armada” to Iran as Protesters are Murdered: What Does it All Mean?
By Sierra Knoch | January 28, 2025
On Tuesday during a midterm campaign speech in Iowa, Trump remarked to the crowd, “By the way, there’s another beautiful armada floating beautifully toward Iran right now. So we’ll see. I hope, I hope they make a deal.”
As rumors fly around about what a possible US strike could look like and when it may happen, the situation in Iran continues to escalate. According to my sources on the ground in Iran, protests have died down due to the foreign armed militia from Iraq and neighboring Iran proxy strongholds, that the regime has deployed on its own citizens, the sentiment for revolution remains. One thing is clear, Iranians are done with this regime and reform doesn’t interest them.
According to a firsthand account from my source inside Iran, Trump’s red line on killing peaceful protesters has been crossed by the regime. “It’s not fake news. 35,000 Iranians have been killed. People are so scared. 35,000 its too many really.” This is a human rights violation that the whole world including our allies in Europe (who have yet to designate the IRGC as a terrorist organization) should be addressing.
However, this alone does not justify an American strike on Iran. But looking deeper at the situation, it is clear that supporting the cause of the Iranian revolutionary protesters is aligned with American strategic interests. According to my sources in Iran the country is occupied by foreign militia forces. The regime has funded foreign terrorist groups in Iraq, Lebanon, Gaza, etc. for years while average Iranians suffered under a nonexistent economy and astronomical inflation. As if that wasn’t enough, due to local police forces that have defected or stayed home, the regime has resorted to calling in foreign terrorists on their payroll and deploying them against the Iranian people. This is a clear violation of international law and human rights accords. According to my source on the ground, “They are still killing. Its hell in here really. People are kept in cages. Mostly by Iraqi and IRGC forces. Down with China and Russia.” This is important for two reasons. First, the IRGC is a US designated foreign terrorist organization that regularly targets American troops and has American blood on their hands. Second, these foreign terrorist forces that are being set loose inside Iran by the regime are destabilizing to the entire region during this uncertain time inside the country. The regime in its desperation is arming and empowering foreign terrorists to operate inside Iran, where they could gain access to the robust Iranian missile program or other weapons such as drones. The regime is desperate enough to risk destabilization however, the US should not make the same miscalculation. The US must act to ensure that dangerous weapons don’t fall into the wrong hands in this volatile region especially when it comes to transition planning if the regime falls.
Another key point to consider as the US decides what steps to take next is the influence of China and Russia with the Iranian regime. China buys the majority of their oil from Iran at a discount, and as President Trump works to push back on Chinese influence in our own hemisphere and beyond, establishing energy dominance through eliminating these shadow oil networks is an incredibly powerful tool. Iran is the last domino ready to fall when it comes to taking down the Chinese illicit oil supply globally. By enforcing that China buys their oil legally and on open markets, President Trump is taking away China’s ability to act independently from the global markets, exploit unfair trade practices against the west, and in a worst case scenario wage a war in the Indo-Pacific unrestrained by oil sanctions or global market pressures. The Iranian people are also a huge potential asset against China for the US. There is massive upside to supporting the Iranian people’s courageous fight for freedom because they have lived under the influence of China and Russia behind a modern “iron curtain” for years due to global sanctions against Iran. Cheap Chinese products flood the markets in Iran, as they are limited in their global trading partners. In the business world, finances are infiltrated by Chinese and Russian influence stifling growth and fair market competition. These issues have not gone unnoticed by the Iranian people, who for the most part do not support the “multipolar world” project pushed by China, Russia, and BRICS. In fact many Iranians want to see the US return to a dominant role on the global stage as they know that President Trump’s words “When America booms the whole world booms” ring true.
Just as the naval armada arrived in Iran this week, another story made headlines on Tuesday when 3 IRGC terrorists were deported back to Iran. The terrorists entered the country illegally through Biden’s open border in 2024, and were finally deported back to Iran after being caught by the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts. Many people who support the Iranian people’s cause felt this was a betrayal as the terrorists were going back to Iran free to continue targeting innocent Iranian civilians. But the real point remains that IRGC terrorists were found illegally inside the US. This is nothing less than an intent to attack. As we know that the IRGC’s main goal is to bring down the “great satan” the USA. These invaders didn’t end up here on vacation. By summarily deporting them as the national security threat that they are, the Trump administration is affirming to the world and to Iran that we acknowledge the threats made directly against the USA and reserve the right to respond. As the Trump admin weighs options on how to act in Iran, this will only bolster the credibility of Trump’s warnings to the regime.
The situation remains incredibly fluid but the message from inside Iran is clear. According to my source, “When the first USS Abraham Lincoln missile arrives in Iran, the people will welcome it and lal the people will come to the streets again.” While the US has many options on how to proceed militarily, diplomatically, and economically the end of the regime seems more likely than ever due to the sentiment of the Iranian people against this regime.
