President Donald Trump on Friday adjusted the rates on reciprocal tariffs worldwide, potentially influencing global markets once again amid record-breaking customs duties revenue pouring into the United States.
The order, signed July 31, imposes tariffs on foreign countries ranging from 10 to 41 percent.
Per the EO, “some trading partners have agreed to, or are on the verge of agreeing to, meaningful trade and security commitments with the United States, thus signaling their sincere intentions to permanently remedy the trade barriers that have contributed to the national emergency declared in Executive Order 14257, and to align with the United States on economic and national security matters.”
The EO also noted that other trading partners, “despite having engaged in negotiations,” have offered terms that the president stated, “do not sufficiently address imbalances in our trading relationship or have failed to align sufficiently with the United States on economic and national-security matters.”
Imports will have a baseline tariff of 10 percent, per the order.
The EO will go into effect seven days after the signing of the order – August 7.
The president’s newest tariff rates come amid months of negotiations with foreign nations. So far this year, Trump has closed trade deals with the European Union, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Japan, India, Vietnam, and South Korea. For those nations that came to the table, tariff rates appear to be much more favorable.

Since implementing tariff policies, President Trump has generated a staggering $150 billion in tariff revenue for the United States in just a few months.
“Tariffs are making America GREAT & RICH Again,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He explained, “They were successfully used against the USA for decades and, coupled with really dumb, pathetic, and crooked politicians, we’re having a devastating impact on the future, and even the survival, of our country.”
Trump said the “tide has completely turned” in terms of tariff usage, as America pivots to utilize the critical trade tool to reposition itself.
“ONE YEAR AGO, AMERICA WAS A DEAD COUNTRY, NOW IT IS THE ‘HOTTEST’ COUNTRY ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!” he added.
