What is the goal in Iran? Here is what the administration says

The Trump administration has defined a set of specific military and strategic objectives for current operations in Iran. President Trump described the joint offensive as the last best chance to neutralize threats posed by the Islamic Republic.
His stated goals include the total destruction of Iranian missile capabilities and the annihilation of its navy. The administration also seeks to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon and lacks the capacity to fund or direct regional terrorist proxies.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarified that the mission aims to dismantle the conventional weapons shield that Tehran uses to protect its nuclear ambitions. Rubio stated that the operation is designed to defang the regime and eliminate its ability to threaten neighbors or American bases. While Rubio noted that the United States would welcome a change in leadership, he emphasized that the immediate priority remains the systematic destruction of the military infrastructure used to project power across the Middle East.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has characterized the campaign as a decisive effort to finish the defense industrial base of the Iranian military. Hegseth reported that the Iranian air force and navy have already been rendered combat ineffective.
He maintained that the conflict is not intended to be an endless engagement similar to previous wars in Iraq. Instead, the Pentagon is focused on finding and neutralizing specific military leaders and manufacturing facilities. Hegseth asserted that the United States will maintain control of Iranian airspace to prevent any rebuilding of these strategic assets.
