Over the past few days, pixelated images and bizarre, choppy video clips were posted from the White House official account on X, leading some to wonder if it had been hacked.
Blurry images and “shhh” emojis took center stage as users tried to decipher what the White House was planning to launch, with theories ranging from new AI programs to an upcoming event at the People’s House.
As reported by LindellTV, some had even wondered if the upcoming announcement had something to do with a newly registered domain, Aliens.gov, which had stirred up conspiracy theories on the internet.
However, on Friday, following the multi-day series of cryptic posts, the White House revealed that, simply, it was launching an official app that would keep all of its streams and real-time updates in a singular spot.
“The conversation everyone’s watching is now at your fingertips,” the White House account said, offering links to download the app in the Google Play and Apple App Store.
The launch of the app may have been a bit of a letdown for some theorists online.
Some X users voiced their opinions on the launch, and their responses were varied.
“This was the big announcement?” one user wrote.
Another posited, “Got it! Thank you. It’s awesome! I love having the information at my fingertips to find the truth.”
Others seemed to believe the app was conspiratorial in nature, with one user writing, “I am not putting no government app in my phone to gain access to my files and stuff.”
The White House’s launch of a direct news app comes as the United States has nearly hit the four-week mark in its war against Iran. The Pentagon is reportedly considering sending about 10,000 more troops to the Middle East, according to some sources, but that has not yet been confirmed.
