The deadly fruit of Mamdani’s policies

Sixteen homeless individuals died from exposure in New York City during recent severe cold weather. The fatalities followed a directive from Zohran Mamdani to end the practice of clearing homeless encampments.
The policy replaced involuntary removal to temporary shelters with a model rooted in Mamdani’s “inclusive” socialist tendencies
The administration implemented the change to respect individual autonomy. This approach assumes all citizens possess the same capacity for rational decision-making regarding their safety.
The fatalities indicate a failure in this methodology. Many individuals in these encampments suffer from severe mental illness and cannot accurately assess the danger of freezing temperatures. The removal of state intervention left them exposed to the elements. The decision to prioritize some sort of ideological equality over direct intervention resulted in a lack of necessary care for a vulnerable population.
Mamdani’s ideology isn’t American, and it especially will not play out well in New York.
