Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is not cooperating with investigators, according to Utah Governor Spencer Cox.
Robinson, who was arrested after a two-day manhunt, is being held without bail on suspicion of aggravated murder and other charges. While Robinson is not speaking with authorities, Governor Cox has noted that people close to him, including his family, are being “incredibly cooperative.”
Information from these interviews suggests that Robinson had become “more political” in recent years and had expressed a dislike for Kirk’s viewpoints. His family helped lead to his capture after his father recognized him in surveillance photos and convinced him to surrender. Investigators are still working to determine a full motive for the shooting, which took place at Utah Valley University. Robinson, who had no prior criminal history, was a third-year student in an electrical apprenticeship program at Dixie Technical College. Formal charges against Robinson are expected to be filed on Tuesday.
