President Trump on Friday celebrated a win in the U.S. Court of Appeals about his deployment of the California National Guard to Los Angeles amid the city’s rampant rioting and looting in response to federal immigration enforcement operations.
“The Appeals Court ruled last night that I can use the National Guard to keep our cities, in this case Los Angeles, safe,” President Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to a report from CBS News, a federal appeals court temporarily halted a ruling that blocked President Trump from deploying California National Guardsmen to the City of Angels.
“If I didn’t send the Military into Los Angeles, that city would be burning to the ground right now. We saved L.A. Thank you for the Decision!!!” Trump added in his statement.
The decision comes after California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom filed a lawsuit against President Trump for deploying the troops into the city to quell lawlessness and unrest.
Newsom attempted to blame Trump for the riots, remarking that the president had “manufactured a crisis and is inflaming conditions.”
This week, the governor even accused Trump of purposely creating a problem and said “he tries to be a hero in his own Marvel movie.”
President Trump slammed the governor on Thursday evening, writing on Truth Social that “Gavin Newscum should have been THANKING me for the job we did in Los Angeles, rather than making sad excuses for the poor job he has done.”
He continued, “If it weren’t for me getting the National Guard into Los Angeles, it would be burning to the ground right now!”
According to the court order, a panel of judges will hold a remote hearing on the restraining order against the president on June 17.
