Eric Swalwell’s trouble has just begun

The FBI has raided the Washington, D.C., home of former Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell as part of an escalating criminal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against the former California congressman.
Federal agents reportedly executed a search warrant at Swalwell’s residence this past Sunday, one day after confronting him at San Francisco International Airport and seizing his cellphone and other electronic devices. The warrants are tied to an investigation into multiple allegations of sexual assault and other misconduct.
Swalwell resigned from Congress in April after several women accused him of misconduct. The allegations include claims of sexual assault, sending unsolicited explicit messages and, in one case, rape. Swalwell has denied the allegations, while acknowledging what he previously described as mistakes in judgment. He also withdrew from the California governor’s race as the allegations mounted.
The FBI investigation comes alongside separate inquiries by authorities in New York and Los Angeles. The Department of Homeland Security has also examined allegations involving Swalwell’s employment of a Brazilian nanny. At least four women have reportedly been contacted by federal investigators in connection with the sexual misconduct probe.
