Under President Trump’s energy-forward policies, gas prices nationwide are poised to get cheaper than they’ve been in years

Under President Donald Trump’s leadership, gas prices in America are poised to fall to a four-year low, following his administration’s work to prioritize domestic energy production and implement energy-forward policies.
This comes amid AAA’s projection that gas could fall as low as $3 per gallon – the first time it may reach such a price in four years.
According to AAA’s most recent data, the national average is $3.05 per gallon, and last week, it was $3.11. It has steadily declined since President Trump took office. Last year at the same time, the average price nationwide was $3.20.
Just over the past week, nationwide gas prices per gallon have fallen 6.4 cents, per GasBuddy.
“With well over 40 states seeing gas prices decline and oil plunging below $60 per barrel to end the week, the good news may not end if — and when — the national average hits that magical $2.99 mark,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, in an official statement.
He added, “We could even see a handful of stations in places like Oklahoma, Texas, or even Wisconsin drop below $2 per gallon in the weeks ahead — something not seen since the pandemic. In addition, with wages up and gas prices down, Americans are spending the smallest share of their paycheck on gasoline in many years.”
Earlier this year, President Trump predicted that prices on critical items like groceries and oil would drop substantially under his policies.
In early October, he noted, “Prices have come way down…we think the oil is going to be under $2 a gallon very soon, that’s about 70 percent lower than what it was just a year ago. So, that’s a pretty big thing. When the oil comes down, everything comes down.”
