Happy New Year, America: what to expect in 2026
As the new year yawns wide open and yet unmarred, there are a few things Americans can expect to see during the nation’s 250th birthday year

The nation now faces the beginning of yet another year, and what will soon be the start of President Trump’s second year back in office.
The Trump administration raced through last year’s first term at breakneck speed, and now, as 2026 kicks off the start of the nation’s 250th birthday celebration, there are a few key things that Americans can expect to see from the White House and across the nation, ranging from anniversary celebrations to pending Supreme Court decisions.
An anticipated SCOTUS ruling on tariffs
Americans can expect to hear from the Supreme Court in 2026 on its decision about tariffs – namely, whether President Donald Trump’s approach to levying tariffs as a key tool of trade negotiations is constitutional.
“Tariffs are an overwhelming benefit to our Nation, as they have been incredible for our National Security and Prosperity (like nobody has ever seen before!),” the president argued this week. “Losing our ability to Tariff other countries who treat us unfairly would be a terrible blow to the United States of America.”
As reported by LindellTV, SCOTUS will determine whether the president can utilize the Emergency Economic Powers Act to implement such tariffs.
Last year, the nation raked in at least $195 billion in tariffs, thanks to the president’s policies, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. A potentially negative ruling by the Supreme Court on the president’s authority to implement tariffs calls into question exactly what would happen to the vast sum.
Would it be refunded to the countries it was collected from? Such a possibility remains clouded with uncertainty.
America’s 250th birthday
On July 6, the nation will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its birth, and President Donald Trump plans to celebrate in style. Between a planned UFC fight at the White House – spearheaded by President Donald Trump and UFC CEO Dana White – and a “Salute to America” celebration planned on the National Mall, there will be many celebrations across the nation this year.
America 250 – the president’s commission on the anniversary event – has organized a slate of fun celebrations, including the “Great American State Fair” on June 25, 2026, at the National Mall, and the opening of the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library in North Dakota.
There will also be a massive maritime naval armada parade in the New York Harbor in July 2026, and in the fall, the “Patriot Games” – the first of its kind – will invite high school athletes from across the country to compete in athletic competitions highlighting the strength and talent of young Americans.
Additionally, several FIFA World Cup events will be hosted in the United States this year.
Patriotic projects
President Trump is currently overseeing several projects, including the construction of a new White House ballroom, renovations in the White House itself, and a proposed triumphal arch project in D.C., which is poised to mimic the Arc de Triomphe in Paris, France.
These kinds of grand construction projects are an encouraging sight for Americans who need to see their country vibrant, expanding, and thriving even amid trying times.
Implementation of tax relief
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” signed into law in July 2026 will go into effect this year, putting into effect some tax-related relief that working Americans desperately need, like no tax on tips and no more taxes on overtime.
In fact, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in December that this year’s tax filers may see out-of-the-ordinary tax refunds. As reported by LindellTV, Bessent said that working Americans haven’t yet changed their withholdings, noting that there might be up to $150 billion in refunds this tax season, amounting to a possible $1,000-$2,000 per household.
The beginning of the 2026 midterm season
The 2026 midterms are here. With only months to go until November’s key elections, the successes of Republicans nationwide will determine whether the GOP maintains its majorities in Washington.
As the campaign season heats up, expect to see President Donald Trump back on the campaign trail, championing his endorsed candidates. There are also several key gubernatorial races to watch – like California (where Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco is making a gubernatorial bid on the Republican ticket) and Minnesota (where LindellTV’s own Mike Lindell is running for governor, too).
