Karl Rove proves John Cornyn to be a RINO

Former George W. Bush strategist Karl Rove announced he will vote for a Democrat in Texas this November, while outgoing Senator John Cornyn stated he will refuse to back the Republican nominee, sparking fresh outrage among conservatives who view the stance as proof of an unprincipled establishment faction.

Writing in The Wall Street Journal, Rove confirmed plans to cast his ballot for Democratic Representative Jon Rosenthal over Republican nominee Bo French in the race for the Texas Railroad Commission.

Rove pointed to online remarks from French regarding University of Texas football attendees as the justification for crossing party lines, declaring that he intends to break a decades-long streak of voting Republican.  

Cornyn, who lost his own Senate seat to conservative Attorney General Ken Paxton in the primary runoff earlier this year, publicly distanced himself from French and indicated he may leave his ballot blank rather than back the Republican party nominee.

The willingness of veteran party figures like Cornyn or Rove to forfeit an office to the Democratic Party reinforces the divide between grassroots voters and Austin consultants. French responded by pointing out that corporate consultant circles spent millions against him during the primary and continue to attack conservative candidates who refuse to yield to party elites.

This is exactly why rank-and-file Texas voters decisively chose Paxton over Cornyn to represent the state in Washington. Rather than uniting behind the ticket chosen by primary voters, establishment strategists have shown that when they lose internal party contests, they prefer enabling Democrats over supporting victorious America First candidates.
