“Kirkaversary”, and the rot of the left
By Easton Martin
One year after the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, we are witnessing a sickening rot across social media and college campuses. Far-left activists are openly celebrating the murder of a conservative speaker, branding the date as a “Kirkaversary” and turning political violence into an occasion for mockery and parties.
Tyler Robinson murdered Kirk in cold blood during a speaking event on September 10, 2025. That was an act of terror, yet today, large segments of the left treat the murder like a joke. They post memes, cheer the loss of a husband and father, and hold campus events celebrating bloodshed. This behavior exposes a deep moral decay in our country. It shows a movement that has completely abandoned common decency.
Charlie Kirk was by no means an extremist. He was a conservative commentator who traveled to campuses across the country, sat at a folding table, handed people microphones, and engaged in open debate on faith, free markets, and the Constitution. The people who cheered his murder, and the people celebrating it now, could not beat him on the merits of his ideas. Instead, they celebrate that a bullet silenced him.
The depravity on display is that of an ideological movement that places zero value on human life. When you look at a political faction that champions abortion up to the moment of birth, you should not be surprised when they cheer the assassination of a political opponent. The foundational belief is the same. Once you discard the sacred value of life in the womb, discarding the life of someone whose politics you hate becomes second nature.
