Letitia James accused of ignoring evidence in banking scandal- Kari Lake demands accountability
New York | July 30, 2025 | Vanessa Broussard
Embattled New York Attorney General Letitia James is under fire after allegations surfaced that she willfully ignored evidence of $9.6 billion of Iran sanctions evasion by Standard Chartered Bank, a major bank in UK and in China with its main US branch in New York City.
The $850 billion asset bank is regulated as a state-chartered institution, placing it under the direct oversight authority of the New York Attorney General. In 2024, bank employee whistleblowers reportedly presented evidence of illegal financial activity to James’ office—including potential violations related to sanctions evasion and transactions benefiting hostile foreign actors listed by US Treasury as Specifically Designated Global Terrorists.
Rather than take action, sources claim James’ office, after reviewing the illicit payments, failed to pursue the investigation, raising serious questions about transparency, political bias, and enforcement of state law.
Now, political firebrand Kari Lake is speaking out exclusively to LindellTV.
Statement from Trump administration, Senior Advisor at United States Agency for Global Media, Kari Lake:
“This is a serious issue. President Trump, trying to undo the damage caused by Biden and Obama with their destructive policies toward Israel and America as well as toward the people of Iran, has put forth a maximum pressure zero tolerance policy blocking any funding to Iran and its terror network. And now, a British bank who operates in the United States is accused of processing billions of illicit payments to Iran. And the New York Attorney General’s office led by Tish James knew about it and did nothing. The Fed should have spotted these payments and stopped them, but they did not. The question is was it simply ineptitude on the part of Leticia James and the Federal Reserve or were they complicit in helping the Iranian regime?”
Standard Chartered has been caught and fined by the US DOJ in 2019 for alleged dealings with sanctioned entities. The latest developments have reignited concerns over the bank’s New York operations and the lack of enforcement by state officials.
As pressure mounts, the Attorney General’s office has not yet issued a formal response.
Standard Chartered Bank has not yet publicly responded either.
