During a Thursday evening Turning Point USA event at the University of Iowa, a lone protester interrupted a discussion between podcaster Alex Clark and the president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., prompting law enforcement to escort the disruptor from the venue.
Social media footage showed the young man yelling loudly about “Palestinian genocide.” As he was shoved against the wall by cops, he screamed, “They’re dying!”
He also yelled, “Our tax dollars are going to genocide!”
The protester was presumably referring to the hotly debated situation between the Israeli military and the occupied Palestinian territory in Gaza – a strip of land that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party has openly postured toward resettling with their own people. The U.S. government is also actively involved with Israel – its close ally – to rebuild the Gaza Strip and end the tensions there.
On X, Turning Point Spokesman Andrew Kolvet remarked, “Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. I just heard the dude resisted arrest and was then apprehended.”
However, social media users were quick to question the booting of the protester, arguing that the late Turning Point USA President and visionary, Charlie Kirk, may have taken the time to debate with the young man.
“Why?” one X user wrote. “Charlie Kirk would have invited him to the mic. Charlie Kirk is rolling over in his grave. That kid wasn’t a threat; Kirk would have invited a conversation. Shame on y’all.”
Another commenter wrote, “You’re proud of this? Suppressing dissenting free speech from ‘a lone protestor’?? Wolves in sheep’s clothing is putting it mildly. Keep it up; TPUSA is truly the operation I long suspected.”
The comments on the TPUSA Frontlines account, which posted the footage, received mostly negative feedback, prompting prominent political commentator Mike Cernovich to remark, “A storm is brewing.”
In what appeared to be a separate incident during the event, Daily Wire podcaster Ben Shapiro (one of the hosts for the evening), according to footage online and current reporting, told one student whom he was interacting with about Israel to “shut the f*** up.”
Shapiro’s reaction also drew some scrutiny online, as the late Kirk was never documented to have ever used profanity in a debate with a college student.
One anonymous X user posited, “I don’t remember Charlie telling people to ‘shut the f*ck up’ for voicing their opinions…”
While it’s clear that both disruptors – for Clark and Trump Jr. and for Shapiro – were there to cause nothing but trouble, the incidents have sparked a reflection online about how Charlie Kirk masterfully handled aggressive students who would attempt to insult him or disparage him.
