As unrest continues in the streets of Minneapolis, the president may soon make good on his warning to end agitators’ actions with a quick and decisive blow.
According to a report from Politico, two defense officials confirmed to the outlet that nearly 1,500 troops from the 11th Airborne Division in Alaska are potentially being readied for a possible deployment to Minnesota, per orders from the Pentagon.
This comes amid the president’s comments last week that the protests in Minneapolis were fueled by “highly paid professionals.” He also slammed Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Democrat Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for their inaction, describing them as “USELESS.”
“If, and when, I am forced to act, it will be solved, QUICKLY and EFFECTIVELY!” the president said last week.
As reported by LindellTV, the protests in Minneapolis erupted after the ICE-related shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, an alleged anti-ICE protester who accelerated her SUV toward a law enforcement agent, sparking what appeared to be defensive action from the officer.
Footage that emerged on social media of the incident has painted a picture of Good and her alleged partner taunting ICE officers in the moments leading up to the shooting.
The presence of ICE officers in Minneapolis also comes amid Gov. Tim Walz’s decision to bow out of the 2026 re-election race for governor, as his state is embroiled in a statewide fraud scandal to the tune of billions of dollars.
Gov. Walz has reportedly mobilized the Minnesota National Guard in response to the protests in Minneapolis, but has thus far failed to deploy them, Politico reported.
Protests have also appeared to spread beyond Minneapolis. On Monday, anti-ICE protesters were seen in a social media video taking control of a Target store in St. Paul.
Despite the protests, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced the continued success of enforcement operations in Minneapolis.
“We have arrested over 10,000 criminal illegal aliens who were killing Americans, hurting children and reigning terror in Minneapolis because Tim Walz and Jacob Frey refuse to protect their own people and instead protect criminals,” she said in a statement on Monday.
Secretary Noem said DHS law enforcement had arrested 3,000 criminal illegal aliens over the past six weeks, including “vicious murderers, rapists, child pedophiles, and incredibly dangerous individuals.”
She continued, “There is MASSIVE Fraud in Minneapolis, at least $19 billion and that’s just the tip of iceberg. Our Homeland Security Investigators are on the ground in Minneapolis conducting wide scale investigations to get justice for the American people who have been robbed blind.”
