President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet tomorrow in Anchorage, Alaska, for high-stakes talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine. Trump said Putin “wants to get it done” but estimated a 25 percent chance of failure.
Possible topics of discussion include a ceasefire, security guarantees for Ukraine, sanctions relief, and arrangements for disputed territories. Trump suggested a follow-up summit with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy if progress is made.
Ukraine has voiced concern over being excluded, with Zelenskyy meeting British leaders in London ahead of the talks. U.S. officials insist any deal must protect Ukraine’s security. Putin praised Trump’s peace efforts but said no agreements will be signed at this meeting.
Anchorage’s mayor said she learned of the summit only after Trump announced it. The outcome could mark a breakthrough in diplomacy or further strain relations over the conflict’s future.
