Still at odds? The latest on Trump and Musk’s rift
By Easton Martin
Last week, President Donald Trump and Tesla CEO Elon Musk engaged in a public social media feud regarding Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill”. In an interview with CBS, former Trump ally Elon Musk stated that he was “disappointed” with the cost of the bill.
On June 3, the Former DOGE advisor launched a full scale attack on the bill, citing it as an example of an “outrageous, pork-filled” spending bill that is an “abomination”.
Speaking from the Oval Office on June 5, President Trump said he was “very disappointed” in Elon Musk for publicly criticizing the bill, according to a video clip published by the Associated Press.
Musk, in a jab at the president, claimed that the reason the Epstein files were yet to be released was due to Trump’s inclusion on the infamous Epstein list. Musk quietly deleted this tweet a couple days after posting, but the media and internet did not quickly forget about it.
Elon Musk’s tweet had set off a frenzy of speculation online about the President’s involvement with the notorious Epstein, though many have pointed out that Trump is already known to be in Epstein’s flight logs. His inclusion however simply documents a few instances of travel within the continental U.S. of Trump and his family.
As tensions have slowed down between the two over the weekend, the feud seems to have settled down, though it is unclear if the President and Musk have resolved any of their differences.
