Tina Peters’ plight has grown considerably worse, according to an update on her official X account, as the 70-year-old serves prison time at La Vista Women’s Correctional Facility in Colorado.
“Tina has been moved to solitary confinement today after filing a grievance with the warden about a teacher in the prison making statements to numerous other inmates about her,” the account, which gives regular updates about Ms. Peters’ situation, noted this week.
Peters, after listening to allegedly antagonizing comments from other inmates, filed a grievance against the unidentified “teacher” who apparently picked a verbal fight with her:
“Tina was then brought to medical for a physical evaluation consisting of a strip search, a meeting with mental health, followed by the manager of mental health in the facility, and then made to wait for several hours. Tina was then informed that she would be moved to solitary confinement due to an investigation involving internal affairs. She was told the investigation could take up to 17 days. She expects to remain in solitary for the duration of the investigation.”
Peters, who formerly served as the Mesa County Clerk in Colorado, was sentenced to nine years in prison for charges related to allegedly breaching election equipment in 2021, as previously reported by LindellTV.
Her case has stirred considerable conversation nationwide about the sanctity of American elections and whether she has been unfairly or unreasonably punished for her alleged crimes.
“She did nothing wrong, except catching the Democrats cheat in the Election,” President Donald Trump wrote of her this summer. “She is an old woman, and very sick. If she is not released, I am going to take harsh measures!!!”
Thus far, Peters has remained in jail, and it is unclear if the Department of Justice has made any headway in procuring, at the very least, an early release for Peters, following the president’s strong statement in her defense.
While many people have called on President Trump to intercede on her behalf by issuing a pardon, Peters has been charged with state crimes, not federal crimes. Presidential pardons are only applicable to those who have been charged at the federal level.
“If President Trump can free hostages in Gaza, then he should be able to free Tina Peters. Work with the state of Colorado!!” said Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on Friday.
