Trump makes history amid SCOTUS birthright citizenship hearing

President Donald Trump visited the Supreme Court on Wednesday morning. He became the first sitting president to attend oral arguments at the nation’s highest court. The president arrived at the building shortly before the session started at 10 a.m.
The hearing focused on the case of Trump V. Barbara. This legal challenge involves an executive order regarding birthright citizenship. Trump signed the policy earlier in his second term. It seeks to limit citizenship for children born in the United States to illegal immigrant parents.
Trump sat in the courtroom for approximately one hour, listening to the arguments presented by Solicitor General John Sauer. Sauer argued that the current reading of the 14th Amendment is incorrect, and the administration believes that citizenship should be tied to the legal status of the parents.
The president left the courthouse before the opposing side began its presentation. He did not stay to hear the arguments from the American Civil Liberties Union. Trump returned to the White House while the session continued. He later commented on the case through a post on Truth Social.
