USDA secretary says ‘blue states’ are less transparent about SNAP data
USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins revealed a surprising lack of transparency from left-leaning states when it comes to SNAP benefits data

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins revealed this week that there is a surprising difference between “blue” states and “red” states when it comes to transparency about SNAP benefits data.
“On my first day @USDA, we told every state to send us their SNAP data so we could make sure illegal immigrants aren’t getting benefits meant for American families,” she said on X.
Rollins added, “29 states stepped up. 21 blue states refused — and two SUED US FOR ASKING!”
This comes amid the ongoing government shutdown, which has squelched the SNAP spigot for millions of Americans as those benefits are not currently funded.
As reported by LindellTV, about 40 million Americans are estimated to be affected by this situation, which began Saturday when some benefits stopped disbursing on November 1, according to the USDA.
However, as Rollins suggested, there are allegations aplenty that the SNAP system is plagued with waste, fraud, and abuse, therefore complicating the issue.
Rollins said that, among the states that have cooperated with her agency, “we’ve already uncovered massive fraud.”
She wrote, “The Democrat Party has turned its back on working Americans and built its entire strategy around protecting illegal aliens. They know if the handouts stop, those illegals will go back home, and Democrats will lose 20+ seats after the next census.”
This also comes on the heels of President Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” (signed in July), which stands to cut SNAP benefits for 90,000 illegal residents in the United States, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
However, the Trump administration will send partial payments this month to at least 50 percent of the 40 or so million people affected by the SNAP situation, paid out from an emergency account, the New York Times reported.
President Trump announced this decision last week, noting that, if given “appropriate legal direction by the Court” he would provide the funding for SNAP “just like I did with Military and Law Enforcement Pay.”
He wrote, “The Democrats should quit this charade where they hurt people for their own political reasons, and immediately REOPEN THE GOVERNMENT.”
