The one-year countdown to America’s 250th anniversary begins on Thursday when the President of the United States delivers remarks at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence nearly two and a half centuries ago.
The event, organized by the Semi-quincentennial Commission “America250,” will take place on July 3, 2025, with President Trump’s remarks slated to begin at 8:30 p.m. ET, according to the official website.
Those interested in attending the event can RSVP for free tickets on the commission’s website.
“The journey toward this historic milestone is an opportunity to pause and reflect on our nation’s past, honor the contributions of all Americans, and look ahead toward the future we want to create for the next generation and beyond,” the commission stated in its vision for the celebration.
The epic year-long celebration of America’s birthday is the fulfillment of President Trump’s promise in 2023, where he stated his intent, if he won the presidential election, to implement “Salute to America 250” – a year-long celebration of American independence.
“Three years from now, the United States will celebrate the biggest and most important milestone in our country’s history – 250 years of American independence,” he said. “…As a nation, we should be preparing for a most spectacular birthday party!”
The president also vowed to work with “all 50” governors to create a “Great American State Fair” promoting American history and pride nationwide. His vision in 2023 was to set this up at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, where he will be delivering his remarks on Thursday.
“America250 is proud to host this historic kick-off event in Iowa, in keeping with President Trump’s commitment to provide a grand celebration worthy of the momentous occasion of America’s 250th birthday,” said Principal Media Representative for America250 Monica Crowley.
Thursday’s kick-off celebration is scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. ET.
