President Donald Trump says he will sue a mainstream media outlet for publishing a “FAKE” letter to the late and disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein amid renewed interest in the convicted sex offender’s case.
“The Wall Street Journal printed a FAKE letter, supposedly to Epstein,” Trump said in a statement. “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures. I told Rupert Murdoch it was a Scam, that he shouldn’t print this Fake Story. But he did, and now I’m going to sue his ass off, and that of his third rate newspaper.”
The WSJ did indeed publish a letter that the outlet claims Trump wrote to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003, allegedly from an album compiled by Epstein’s partner and equally disgraced sex trafficking perpetrator, Ghislaine Maxwell, per Axios.
The outlet reported that the letter also includes a drawing of a naked woman.
“Forgive my language but this story is complete and utter bullshit,” Vice President J.D. Vance stated on Thursday night.
He continued, “The WSJ should be ashamed for publishing it. Where is this letter? Would you be shocked to learn they never showed it to us before publishing it? Does anyone honestly believe this sounds like Donald Trump?”
White House Press Secretary called the article a “hatchet job,” and likened it to the Steele Dossier that underpinned the “Russia, Russia, Russia” Hoax during the president’s first term.
“The WSJ refused to show us the letter and conceded they don’t even have it in their possession when we asked them to verify the alleged document they’re basing their ENTIRE fake story on,” Leavitt wrote in a statement.
She accused the outlet of “knowingly” publishing “false information to smear the President of the United States.”
In response to this story, Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., has introduced legislation to end the House of Representatives’ apparent subscription contract with the WSJ. “Americans shouldn’t be paying for disgusting and filthy rags. I have also directed my entire staff to delete their taxpayer-funded WSJ accounts,” Fine stated this week.
On Friday morning, President Trump once again commented on the situation, noting that he was looking forward to taking legal action against Murdoch and the WSJ.
“I look forward to getting Rupert Murdoch to testify in my lawsuit against him and his ‘pile of garbage’ newspaper, the WSJ. That will be an interesting experience!!!” he said.
